Wolfsburg - the traditionally automobile-loving city on the Mittelland Canal is versatile, dynamic and cosmopolitan.
Nestled in two large landscapes, the Harz Mountains to the south and the Lüneburg Heath to the northwest, a modern metropolis has been created in just two generations and today has a population of around 125,000.
Wolfsburg is one of the most innovative and economically strongest cities and one of the top ten cities in Germany with the best future prospects.
The inhabitants and the location both benefit from the high quality of life and economic strength. The global player Volkswagen enriches the location with future-proof jobs and innovative strength.

Wolfsburg also boasts a surprisingly wide range of leisure experiences to suit every taste: high-quality art and cultural offerings, first-class sporting events and nature-based recreation.
All this makes the city not only an attractive place to work and live, but also a worthwhile excursion destination, conveniently located in the middle of Germany.
One of the absolute leisure highlights in Wolfsburg and an attraction for around 2 million guests a year is the Autostadt, the Volkswagen Group's theme and adventure park. Right in the heart of the city, the Autostadt invites guests young and old on a journey through the world of mobility in the 25-hectare park and lagoon landscape.
In the immediate vicinity of the Autostadt is the phaeno Science Center, housed in a spectacular building designed by star architect Zaha Hadid. Here, amazement is guaranteed - because the science museum opens up a veritable world of wonders at around 300 interactive experiment stations from the fields of science and technology.
For shopping enthusiasts, the Designer Outlets Wolfsburg are always worth a visit. Germany's first inner-city outlet center attracts shoppers with exclusive brands, affordable prices and sought-after dining options - all conveniently located right next to the main train station.
Wolfsburg's Allerpark, located close to the city center, is the city's green lung and a popular local recreation area. Around the Allersee lake, which gives the park its name, there can be found a variety of leisure highlights on an area of around 130 hectares, rounded off by high-quality gastronomic offerings.
First-class professional sports are offered by VfL Wolfsburg and the Grizzlys Wolfsburg ice hockey team - both clubs are based in Allerpark. In addition to an idyllic sandy beach, Allersee offers a wide range of sports for all ages. There's even more action at the Wake Park, the neighboring water-skiing facility that has no equal anywhere in Europe. Other examples of the Allerpark's versatility include the monkeyman high ropes course, the Badeland adventure pool and the STRIKE event and bowling center.
Friends of art and culture also get their money's worth in Wolfsburg: The Wolfsburg Art Museum delights with top-class contemporary art and avant-garde.
Young as well as documentary art awaits guests at Wolfsburg Castle, an impressive architectural monument of the North German Renaissance.
The Scharoun Theater - Germany's largest performing arts theater - impresses with its magnificent national and international range and brings diverse art forms and genres to the stage. And from there it takes only a few steps to the Planetarium, the only large planetarium in Lower Saxony, where the stars make their grand entrance.
If you are looking for peace and quiet in nature, the central Wolfsburg city forest is the place to be. Not far from the city center, there are numerous opportunities for walking, hiking, cycling or jogging on around 950 hectares. A special feature are the numerous fountains and drinking water springs, which provide refreshment on the route and can be discovered on a fountain and spring hike. As part of the city forest, the Hasselbach Valley also offers an impressive backdrop, where the 170 million years old sand stand formation "Drei Steine" (Three Stones) can be discovered. But it is not only the city forest and Allerpark that make Wolfsburg one of the greenest cities in Germany: In and around Wolfsburg, many other green spaces and nature reserves invite visitors to experience nature and forget about everyday life - for example, the 1,500-hectare Barnbruch wetland in the Aller-Urstromtal valley.
